This has the imaginative 😑title: “Autumn Garden-Fungi” and will be my last completed print of 2025. Tho I think this a very beautiful and interesting subject, it has it’s dark side as theres a good chance it is Honey Fungus 🥺which may have contributed to our Hawthorn Tree looking like it’s on it way out 🙁 I have depicted it as it grew with the beautiful seeds of Iris Foetida and ferns. Following a chance conversation at the Private View of my recent solo exhibition with friends who were looking for a print for their bathroom, I made GREEN SANCTUARY. This is a linocut with watercolour of an imagined bathroom with lots of houseplants from my own collection. I particularly wanted the tiles to be celadon green as for some reason this came to mind when I was chatting about how it might look. Botanical Symphony. This is a print I made specially for my solo exhibition at The Stables Theatre in Milton Keynes. Just finished this print- been an absolute mission to get it completed in time for ‘Ukraine from past to future’ an exhibition of work by British and Ukrainian artists at Milton Keynes Central Library in September. It’s now with the lovely @dmrframing who will do their usual brilliant job on the framing 🤗. The inspiration for this print is Ukrainian White work lace showing stylised sunflowers and ears of wheat, the leaves and flowers are Viburnum (Guelder Rose) the national shrub of Ukraine which symbolises rebirth and infinity of life in their culture. Every year, the SWA exhibition raises money for Breast Cancer Now. This year we also have another wonderful charity evening planned for Meningitis Now. The SWA is a very historic and important society. It was founded in 1855 by courageous and talented women who were unable to exhibit in the male-dominated culture they were born into. Every generation of women since has taken the baton and run with it with an energy and determination that comes through in their vibrant and eclectic work today.
